Usually we give each day a body part equivalent from one of the J's -- last time, I think two days was Jared's pinky. Last night, Maz decided Day 11 was the boys' smiles, which, aw. We're doing something a little different this time: I get to pick the single-digit countdowns and because Maz is finally starting to see the light where football is concerned, we've decided to branch out beyond Jared and Jensen. I'll post two or three pictures a night of, um, *cough* evidence for why I picked a certain person's particular feature (mostly football players, though Day 9 shall be RDJ). Stuff. [12 May 2008|12:17pm] rei_c So, there was fic this weekend: Knowing Danger, Sam/Dean, Dean/Karrefour, from the Knowledge of Dead Secrets 'verse. I think maybe it should be subtitled 'The one where Dean figures out why Sam and Karrefour fit,' just as Burden of Knowledge could be subtitled 'The one where Dean figures out why Sam and Danny fit.' Obviously that means that there needs to be 'one where Dean figures out why Sam and Ti-Jean fit,' and then the trilogy of 'Dean figuring out why Sam picked those loa for his trinity' will be done. Indiana is a red-state that votes blue at every other level (I know, right?). Indiana is Bible-belt. So of course, Indiana has a law in debate that says any store that sells what might be considered sexually explicit material must register, as if it is selling pornography. But no one has really thought this through very well, because art museum shops and bookstores and galleries are also included in this new law. Dude. Come on. In no way could a postcard of Rodin's Martyr #5 -- on display at our own IMA -- be considered porn. Get real. Define your boundaries. Which is tangentially related to this: anytime you try to squash sexuality, it will explode. That's just the way it happens. It doesn't matter how reactive you are. It doesn't matter how conservative you want to make everyone else. It doesn't matter how much you hate the idea. Humans are sexual and we like sexual things. After this law passes -- which I'm sure it will do, with or without the new exception that they're trying to put in there for 'art' [and who will decide that, hmm?] -- I'm expecting that the next law will be one saying that consumers of sexually explicit material will have to sign something, thereby putting ordinary citizens' names into a database and keeping track of them. What a crock. -- In other news, I have the day off of work! (Which doesn't explain why I am up, arg.) I have all sorts of things to do today because I make way overachieving lists for days off. It's one of the things that mom sent from home for me to start with here in Atlanta. It seems likes a crazy couple of weeks just flew by. The last I remember I was with Clare in Hobby Lobby buying a red purse as a way to imagine me in the job in Atlanta. Now I'm here in Atlanta. With an apartment, job and adulthood thrown in somewhere along the way. I just finished talking to Pam. It was surreal. This is it. This, as I sit right here, is what the last 22 years have been leading up to: me, out on my own. I need a new iron. The one I have a little scary and with the job that I have, which is a little more dressy than the NNA, I'll need one that I feel more comfortable with. These are the things that I'm going to have to start thinking about. Being on my own. I guess I still feel like I'll be back in Columbia with Greg, Dustin, Jacque and Lynn. But I know that I won't. I know this is the beginning of the rest of my life. And I'm fine with that, at least I think, but there's still something. I bought some new clothes, including what I hope to wear to Franny's wedding. Ekk. Let's not breach that subject yet. The wine is beginning to take effect.
